Please, please, please, on this very special day think before you speak. Not having a mom on Mother’s Day can evoke a profound sense of loss, grief and sadness for those who have lost or have never had a loving mother as well as for those whose mothers are suffering a terminal illness or even mothers themselves who are suffering the death of a child.
Most folks love the wonderful memories of their mom.
But on Mother’s Day, there are millions who’s moms have passed away, or children who are in foster care or abandoned and who long for the love and stability of a “Real” mother.
Some folks who have lost their mothers are forced by this man-made holiday to relive their mother’s death and/or dying. Because of Mother’s Day, some folks end up memorializing and eulogizing their deceased mother annually. It is a horrible time of year for them.
So, please think before you approach someone you don’t know on Mother’s Day and ask them “what did you get your mother for Mother’s Day?” or “what are you doing for your mother on Mother’s Day?”
Mother’s Day is Not A Happy Day For Everybody.
