I wish that someone had told me this before I started preaching and pastoring over 32 years ago. Although I felt called, I went ahead of being chosen and sent and allowed myself to get caught up in the excitement of being a Pastor and the denominational system of religion. .
Poor thing. I had no idea what I was getting into.
However, after coming to the knowledge of the TRUTH just a few years later and Repenting, and being Washed in the Blood of The Lamb through Water Baptism in the name of Christ Jesus and receiving the gift of the Holy Spirit as evidenced by my speaking in tongues, I realized that I had not known power, divine knowledge, revelation, holiness or boldness until the Holy Ghost came. I had not truly preached anything worth mentioning or of any saving value until I preached the revelation of Christ by the Power of the Holy Spirit.
I pray that my mistakes may help someone else live out the full potential of their calling, and avoid the errors of youthful impatience and enthusiasm and the egotistical seduction of the preaching profession.
Preaching and Pastoring is not a job for the unsaved and cowardly. If you are too afraid to tell folks that you are born of the Water and of the Spirit as commanded by God and Christ, you cannot be an effective witness for the LORD. As a matter of fact, if you haven’t been saved, then how can you preach? How can you teach what you do not know and how can you lead where you do not go?
If you are too afraid of bruising someone’s feelings or upsetting the status quo or of offending the wicked or rebuking the immoral or loving folks who won’t love you back or of being numbered among sinners, or of being ridiculed and harassed, then you may not be an effective Preacher/Pastor.
If you are too prideful, egotistical and arrogant as to not be able to admit when you are wrong or in error or if you aren’t teachable and being led by the Holy Spirit of God which you received in conjunction with being buried with Christ through baptism into His name and confirmed with the evidence of speaking in tongues, then you may be disqualified as a witness for the LORD. The pulpit is no place for the cowardly, rebellious and disobedient.
If you only see the pastoral or preaching ministry as a way to make a living or gain some prestige or acquire some relevance and self-esteem, then your motives are corrupted and you would not make a faithful shepherd or a good example of the sacrificial LOVE of GOD.
If your message is governed by what is politically correct, socially acceptable, ear pleasing and/or entertaining, then perhaps you would be better suited as a performer, a comedian or a motivational speaker. People pleasing just will not successfully serve the cause of Christ or effectively deliver the admonition of God.
GOD’S True witnesses are bold enough to speak GOD’S Truth regardless of what is popular or what the public may think or who may be offended. God’s Man is not persuaded by money, prestige, power, feminism, political correctness, fame, celebrity or social status. GOD’S chosen and sent messengers are not governed by protestant or Catholic doctrines of Faith and traditions but by the ONE TRUE Doctrine of Christ and His Apostles. And God’s true messengers are humble enough to confess their sins, repent daily and be led by the Teacher of teachers – The HOLY SPIRIT.
Let it be known that it is Only Through The Power Of The Holy Spirit that anyone achieves Holy Boldness – The Boldness To Preach In the Face Of Hate, Opposition, Oppression, Threats Of Death, Threats Of Imprisonment, Threat of Banishment, Loneliness, Homelessness, Poverty, Hunger and Sufferings.
Without the Holy Spirit, We Would Not Be Able To Stand For God and Righteousness.
Without the Holy Spirit We Could Not Be Called Children Of God. (Romans 8:9-9)
There are several types of boldness.
Many practicing sexual deviants are brazen about their perversions and propensities.
I cannot tell you how many times that I have heard practicing non-repentant sinners boldly proclaim that they are going to do what they are going to do. I believe the saying is, “I am going to do me.” Who else are they going to do? It is natural for sinners to sin.
However, once we are born again – filled with the genuine HOLY SPIRIT – We are empowered to be Holy like Christ and Bold in our Commitment to Holiness for that is who we are. (1 Peter 1:16)
